BAXTER HEALTHCARE, Round Lake, IL 1998 – 2003

Senior Principal Engineer

Developed embedded software for a new Pathogen Inactivation device to ensure the safety of blood platelets from known and emerging diseases. Coded in C++ using QNX as a safety critical effort on an 80486 platform that spanned architectural design, process control, coding, optimization, integration and field support.

Designed and developed architectural design and assigned exclusive responsibility for the system Self Test functionality contributing to all areas of product implementation.

Added donation protocol enhancements to an established apheresis blood donation device. Currently hold two patents for this device.

Improved efficiencies through development of "stand alone" PC based application

software for service support. Software verified device use and generated data on debugging, problem reports and isolated mechanical component failures.
